Or do we need to continue the tile "up" - look below at the pix of the tile around the kitchen sink area and next to the rarely-used door to the outside (far left of sink). It just looks weird to me - not having edger tile is part of the problem, I think...
But - what if we continued the "diamond" tile all the way to the top of the cabinet? It would be a 4" wide strip left of the upper cabinets, a 2" wide strip to the far right (near exit door that goes to screened porch), and a 1 1/2" stripe on either side of the kitchen sink.
Hmmm....I think it would look tons better. What do you guys think? Or have I totally confused you with my rambling explanation?

I don't know about going up the wall - sounds peculiar to me. I do think that taking the tile down the wall is a good idea. Keep it simple and clean - not overwhelmng.
So if you go up the wall in these areas, where do you call it quits? I think what bothers you is the green paint. I'd just take a row of plain 4-inch tile down to the floor, just set straight. That "anchors" the base cabinets, and that's all you need.
