I love these guys!

Like most everything else, I first heard about these guys on NPR.
They've been around a while, but I just bought their CD and renewed my interest.

So, is it just me...?

Or do we need to continue the tile "up" - look below at the pix of the tile around the kitchen sink area and next to the rarely-used door to the outside (far left of sink). It just looks weird to me - not having edger tile is part of the problem, I think...

But - what if we continued the "diamond" tile all the way to the top of the cabinet? It would be a 4" wide strip left of the upper cabinets, a 2" wide strip to the far right (near exit door that goes to screened porch), and a 1 1/2" stripe on either side of the kitchen sink.

Hmmm....I think it would look tons better. What do you guys think? Or have I totally confused you with my rambling explanation?

First section "finished"

Of course, grout and sealer yet to come, but here's the tile pattern. We'll be using a medium-gray grout. For once, I'm actually helping with this project a little. I've always liked laying tile - not sure why, but I like it. I think it's fun! (Tells you something about my life, I guess....)

Ok, finally...some pictures for Joy!

Our kitchen is still a bloody mess, and Eric has started the backsplash, so it'll probably be that way for a while. But - here are the pix. What do you think? The sink is AWESOME - 12" deep on the left, 8" on the right. It's filthy right now, or I'd send close-ups. Has tile dust on it and dirty dishes in it.

The backsplash tiles are (small grid) slate and "roman stone" tiles. Don't know what kind of stone it is, but it's cast natural stone, whatever that means. Probably made of limestone dust from a quarry, I'm guessing. All stuff pictured hails from home depot.

I'll send more pix when we have the tile all up and grouted. Then you can all help me choose a final color for the cabinets!

Regarding that pizza recipe that I sent out the other day...

I think that mine looks better than Rachael Ray's version. What do you think?

Kitchen Update

Our new sink is BIG! Elana can fit all the way down in it! She had a blast playing with it while it was still in the box.

When I get all the dirty dishes from tonight done, I'll take pix of the "new" kitchen.
