NEW YORK (Reuters) - Borat, the fictional Kazakh reporter who caused a diplomatic stir with his movie adventures in the United States, is back -- with a guide book to "the glorious nation of Kazakhstan" and "minor nation of U.S. and A."

Borat Sagdiyev, a clueless and offensive journalist created by British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, made television and movie audiences laugh and cringe but angered the government of Kazakhstan for portraying the former Soviet country as misogynistic, anti-Semitic and backward.

The character continued in the same vein in a question and answer interview with Reuters via e-mail as the book was released in the United States and Canada this week:

Q: Which country to do you prefer -- Kazakhstan or the USA?

A: "I very much preferring Kazakhstan - it nicest place in the world! Please, you must look on my guidings book and then come visit. Bring your whole family and stay at Astana Funworld Resort - it have beautiful beaches, almost totally free of landmines and the sea is guarantee to have no jellyfish, shark, or any other marine life."

Q: Which people are smarter?

A: "Kazakh peoples is definite has more powerful brains. Government scientist, Dr. Yamak have prove that our glorious leader, Premier Nazarbamshev have IQ of 412 and a brain that extend into most of his chest - it no surprise that he have never fail in complete any jigsaw puzzle. Q: What advice do you have for people traveling around the United States?

I then attach her to her plough and send her into the fields before returning to my bed until she come back at luchtimes to feed me again. Life is very nice for us."

Q: Who do you favor for President in the United States?

A: "I cannot believe that it possible a woman can become Premier of US and A - in Kazakhstan, we say that to give a woman power, is like to give a monkey a gun - very dangerous. We do not give monkeys guns any more in Kazakhstan ever since the Astana Zoo massacre of 2003 when Torkin the orang-utan shoot 17 schoolchildrens. I personal would like the basketball player, Barak Obamas to be Premier."

My Birthday Present from the Greenway

You know, the greenway behind our house. I've been seeing this cute little white kitty from a distance for some time now, and on the morning of my birthday, I was able to catch her. For the first time, she didn't run when I approached - only cowered a little - so I guess that means she's partly tamed... She's still very cautious around the kids and Eric, but she's figured out that I'm not going to hurt her.

I need another cat like a hole in the head, but she's so cute... And Hello Kitty is playing well with her. I guess we'll see how this works out... So far the other cats seem to like her. But she (new kitty) pooped twice in the fireplace this afternoon. Ugh. We have been keeping her locked in the kitchen when we're not around, but I forgot this afternoon and had the poop to deal with when I got home.

These photos don't really do her justice - she's really a cutie.

Forgot to mention...

that Mom gave us a little pot of Silvadene ointment to use on Elana's lip - we've been using it for three days, and the scrape is virtually healed. Pink, but no broken skin. That stuff is almost supernatural, it's so good.

Joy, what on earth makes it work so amazingly well? You're in pharmacology this semester, right? Maybe you can enlighten me.

Or maybe it was french-kissing...not sure. She and Ethan got into a fight and tumbled down the stairs a couple of days ago at Mom & Dad's - they were apparently fighting over a bungee cord (?) on the screened porch and lost their balance, falling against the (unlatched) screened door and rolling down the steps onto the courtyard stones. Somehow Ethan emerged unscathed, but Elana had a nasty scrape and dirt up her nose. Will they survive until adulthood?

Here are our newest family members. The ones of the two cats together were taken on Paddy's first night with us, as the two kittens got acquainted. The one we got from Mom is "Hello Kitty," named by Elana, of course. Paddy is the one I came dragging home - has white boots on his back feet, the "watermelon" stripes, and the little "v" shapes on his forehead are not quite as pointy as HK's. Good luck telling them apart when you can't see the feet or sides - it took me a while!

I look like this at least once a week...

I found my old plastic retainers (the ones that look like the "clear braces" they are using now) last night. I decided to put it in an sleep with it. As soon as I put it in I could feel which teeth had shifted. Woke up this morning (early) with the feeling that I had been punched in the mouth - repeatedly. I can already tell that my teeth have moved back a lot. Now the question is: should I go through this again to keep my teeth in this position or let them go wherever they want from now on?
